I've been meaning to throw out a heads up on these two tools/sites for a while now, and just haven't gotten around to it.

The first is www.moviestring.com which is hard to explain, I think, without giving a false impression. It's sort of "movie review twitter", but that puts a bad image in my head, so I don't want to call it that. It's a very simple, straightforward website where you can post your own movie reviews. The catch is that you are capped at 255 characters. Once you register, you go to your own "homepage" where you will find a variety of options for getting "fed" reviews. You can "like" people, and thus receive the latest from those you like, or you can check out what's new from everybody. You can also browse around new release movies, etc.

The real power of the idea has not really been realized, as the thing is very new, and does not have that many registered users yet. On the other hand, it is the sort of notion that makes it easy to see where this will go, and how useful it will be once the numbers grow.

I've customized a widget with my personal moviestring feed here (and no, even I haven't gotten around to many submissions yet), and I've connected (through moviestring's site) that feed to my twitter account.

It looks like a great tool, though it needs some growing.

They are currently running a bit of a promotion whereby new members who post 10 reviews will receive an Amazon gift card for $12 (theoretically the cost of a DVD).

The second tool, which I really love also, is www.rososo.com.

Rososo is a new feed reader, and the whole gimmick is that it is stripped down to the bare bones of what a feed reader idea can be.

Register with them, then add a website or feed, and when you log in again it will list your feeds/sites. Log in again, and it will give you only what has been updated since you last logged in. Shazam!

Now, Google Reader actually serves my purposes just fine, but the ultra-stripped Rososo is hard to argue with.

I'm going to say thanks to PopSiren for being the first to let me in on this, and I'll include a link to their video of it.
