Getting ready for our R.I.P.D. review was tough, because we move along in our now several journey of falling for the first part of films, only to have them fall apart.
Shane had it easier than I did, apparently, but I struggled with my rating on this one, because the first part of it was actually quite a bit of fun. Besides which, everyone was really good in it, even if I thought Bridges’ character was undervalued, thus leading to eventual boring rehash of all the same stuff we saw earlier in the film.
Like a lot of big, summer fare, this one could have been great, which is probably what leads to so much disappointment.

Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds headline this supernatural action-adventure as two cops dispatched by the Rest In Peace Department (R.I.P.D.) to protect and serve the living from increasingly destructive spirits hiding among the unsuspecting on Earth. When they uncover a plot that could end life as we know it, the new partners have to turn grudging respect into top-notch teamwork to restore the cosmic balance...or watch the tunnel to the afterlife begin sending angry souls the very wrong way.
