This week may be hard to predict, although I suppose not so much if you really know us. Thus, why not throw together a very odd mix.
Neither of us liked Zero Dark Thirty, and that’s putting it mildly, and we were both pleasantly surprised by the film that no one wants to admit exists. We both gave Gangster Squad 4 stars, and had more to say about it than the movie we’re “really” reviewing.
We also manage to cover a bit about awards season since the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and Golden Globes were very near to this podcast. Some strange snubs got mentioned, naturally, and this year has some very strange things going on, not least the fact that Argo keeps winning everything.
I also proclaim my love for the fact that Bigelow didn’t get nominated for Best Director.
In the end, it was a fun show, and mixing up the two films proved very interesting.
