Jabberjaw DVD Review And Giveaway

Few shows manage to scream Saturday Morning Cartoon like Jabberjaw, and you have to love Warner Brothers for making this one available through the Hanna-Barbera Classic Collection.

The 4-Disc set contains the complete series (which is surprisingly only 16 episodes) of the zany "Scooby-Doo-esque" adventures of a cowardly shark and his band, The Neptunes. It's a wacky brand of fun that is immediately recognizable as signature Hanna-Barbera, and it's the perfect mix of music, bizarre ideas of the world of the future, and outlandish villains.

There's simply nothing that compares to this particular brand of kid-friendly fun, and there never will be. Besides, how many times do you get to say, "Deep Sea Crime?"

Playing to every set of fun and comedy its target audience is looking for, Jabberjaw stands out as a legend of its time, and is a must-own release.

The release has no bonuses, though you could hardly expect it to, and it isn't exactly the recipient of a magnificent makeover. For me, that isn't really something that rings up as a negative though. I don't have any real desire to watch an old cartoon in stunning HD with a zillion pixel whatever. Besides, I probably actually prefer that it look just like it did when I first watched it.

Jabberjaw probably isn't the first thing that leaps to mind when people are headed to the store to pick up something for their kids to watch, but it's definitely worth picking up. The kids will love it, and for those adults who find themselves suffering through a lot of things they can't stand, this one will work for them as well.

Playing in a rock-’n’-roll band and saving the undersea world from diabolical villains? An impossible task for most, but not for Jabberjaw, the 15-foot talking great white shark from the fan-favorite Saturday morning cartoon series. The year is 2076 and Jabberjaw is the star of the Neptunes, a teenage rock group. In his spare time, Jabberjaw, along with teens Biffy, Shelly, Bubbles and Clamhead, fight deep sea crime.

But its tough down there for a shark. Jabberjaw must also contend with the robot force of “Shark Ejectors,” guards who prevent sharks from entering into underwater cities. All he wants is a little respect! Catch the tidal wave of adventure, music and laughter in this 4-Disc, 16-Episode Series Collection.

I always thought Jabberjaw was one of the better cartoons to come out of the Hanna-Barbera stable in the 1970s — sure, it was a Scooby-Doo clone but just about everything Bill and Joe did around that time was (Goober and the Ghost Chasers, Clue Club, etc.). So it’s nice to see the show get a DVD release.

I am a huge Hanna-Barbera fan! Like Disney & Warner Bros. they knew how to make cartoons for both adults and children to enjoy. It is a shame that Saturday morning cartoons are not the event they used to be.It was great waking up early, getting a bowl of cereal and watching great shows like Scooby-doo,Jabberjaw ,Hong Kong Phooeyand so on.I am very happy that this is finally being released on DVD.With the Walt Disney Treasures & Looney Tunes Golden Collection no longer being released it’s good to know that Hanna Barbera is still giving fans what they want.I have bought almost every H-B Classics Collection DVD and I would really love to have this one!

Never got to see this the first time around. By the time Jabberjaw came around, I was not watching many of the cartoons on Saturday morning. Would be interesting to see what this one is all about.
