Never Let Me Go – Have Your Say Before It Comes Out

The trailer is about to remind you that someone called this book "the best of the decade," and that might not even be the most hyperbolic endorsement you've heard of it, but now I want to hear your side of the story. Have you read the book? Do you expect it to translate well? Is this the right cast (apart from Mulligan, naturally, she's the right person for any role)? Are you excited for it?

...

Do you know what I'm talking about?

If anyone has a chance to make something of this, I think it might be the guy behind One Hour Photo, but I've actually heard of that movie, so I'm biased.

Let your voice be heard!

In his highly acclaimed novel Never Let Me Go, Kazuo Ishiguro (The Remains of the Day) created a remarkable story of love, loss and hidden truths. In it he posed the fundamental question: What makes us human? Now director Mark Romanek (ONE HOUR PHOTO), writer Alex Garland and DNA Films bring Ishiguro's hauntingly poignant and emotional story to the screen.

Kathy (Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan, AN EDUCATION), Tommy (Andrew Garfield, BOY A, RED RIDING) and Ruth (Oscar® nominee Keira Knightley, PRIDE & PREJUDICE, ATONEMENT) live in a world and a time that feel familiar to us, but are not quite like anything we know. They spend their childhood at Hailsham, a seemingly idyllic English boarding school. When they leave the shelter of the school and the terrible truth of their fate is revealed to them, they must also confront the deep feelings of love, jealousy and betrayal that threaten to pull them apart.

I read the book, it was brilliant. I think it is absolutely the right cast and as much as I like Carey Mulligan, she is not right in every role, but I think she’s right for this, as is Keira Knightley, Andrew Garfield, Charlotte Rampling and Sally Hawkins. I think the whole cast is brilliant, not just Carey Mulligan, and I consider Charlotte Rampling and Sally Hawkins better actresses than Mulligan. From some reviews that I read, from British critics, the whole cast delivers outstanding performances in this. I have very high expectations for this movie and I can’t wait to see it!

Yikes… can’t just let a guy like Carey Mulligan eh?

I appreciate your input on the film and the cast.

    Cheers.
