Top 10 Fall 2010 New Shows I’m Looking Forward To – Plus My Personal Fall TV Schedule

Blue Bloods

(CBS)

From the executive producers of “The Sopranos” comes a gripping multigenerational drama. For the Reagans, putting criminals behind bars is more than just a job—it’s the family business. This tight-knit clan of New York cops may clash over methods, internal politics and Sunday dinner, but they have one thing in common—they’ll stop at nothing to see justice served.

Starring:

TOM SELLECK | FRANK REAGAN
DONNIE WAHLBERG | DANNY REAGAN
BRIDGET MOYNAHAN | ERIN REAGAN-BOYLE
WILL ESTES | JAMIE REAGAN
LEN CARIOU | HENRY REAGAN

Why am I so interested?

Much as I’m full up on cop shows, this one looks like it tries to do something a little new and different with the idea. This is a pick based on potential and Tom Selleck, and almost nothing else, but I’m definitely on board for giving it a chance.

Perfect Couples

(NBC)

From Jon Pollack (30 Rock) and Scott Silveri (Friends) and director Andy Ackerman (Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine) comes a comedy about three couples keeping the spark alive.

Let’s be honest, there’s no such thing as a perfect couple. It might look that way to someone on the outside, but behind closed doors, it’s a whole different story. Dave and Julia are the “average” couple. They go to work, go to sleep, and try to find some time together in between.

Vance and Amy are the “too much passion” couple. When they’re not throwing things at each other, they’re locking themselves in the bedroom. And Rex and Leigh are the “expert” couple who are too busy giving other couples advice to focus on their own relationship.

Perfect couples, now that’s an oxymoron.

Why am I so interested?

It’s got a lot of meat behind the production with several people who get to drop big names. It also looks like it’s actually funny, and I like it more with every next bit I see. I believe I said before that this looks like what you’d get if you really Americanized Coupling, except that it would be… Coupled?

I’ve already said that this is potentially the best new NBC show, but it’s also potentially the best new show of the fall overall. And, you guessed it, it’s on the mid-season slate.

Honorable Mentions- with no fanfare at all.

No Ordinary Family

(ABC)

I’m just not sure it can last though.

The Bridge

(CBS)

Hellcats

(CW)

Even just for some potentially horrible television, you have to be interested in checking this out.
