It's already been a strange run on The Celebrity Apprentice, and now that we're a few weeks in, two people seem to be dominating the overall feel of the show... and I bet they aren't going away any time soon.
As much as you want to suspect Donald of having a tight grip on whatever he's involved with, those tricky reality shows always have certain disclaimers about the final decisions being up to the judges AND the producers. Now, Donald is just Donald, but I think he knows what's going on and/or he has people whispering in his ear. After all, we know who won last year, and what heated, hate-fest counterpart also made it all the way to the end. A cat fight of crazy is good ratings, and lo and behold, that's how the decisions went down.
This season, now that we're in a few episodes, seems to be the calmest yet, with quite a few of our celebrities spending most of their time looking like they need a coffee. The stars so far are Bret and Cyndi, and if there are oddsmakers involved, I have to think the good money lies with them sticking around a while.
Bret isn't about to get into any fights with anyone, but his uncanny ability to ramble senselessly about any and every topic under the sun is wearing on some contestants' nerves. There's a filter that was "rocked" away somewhere along the line, and the idea of a brainstorming session has to include untold minutes of wandering monologue.
Almost as out of control as Blago's inability to begin speaking with words other than, "When I was the governor of the fifth-largest state in the Union," Bret's inability to complete a though in under 1,000 words is one of the few "sells" the men have when trying to keep viewers.
On the other side of the boardroom, Cyndi, who has been in the business for, "20 or 30 years (apparently depending on whether you start counting from when she first did something, or last did something)," is doing her best to follow in Joan Rivers' random-tantrum footsteps. Her complete bizarre questions, and general lack of ability to fit into a sensible conversation (thus leading to the raised eyebrows of corporate executives ala, "How do you turn it on?") are at this point the number one reason to make sure to catch the show.
While the men can't win, thus assuring Cyndi's safety for other reasons, Bret hasn't been that lucky, but still pretty lucky. Entertainment Weekly even titled there recap, "Donald Trump Tries His Darndest to Fire Bret Michaels." But, he just couldn't do it.
Of course not, because if we kicked Bret and Cyndi off right now, and I asked why you were tuning in next week, you'd have a hard time coming up an answer.
Well, you're in luck, because the fun continues next week.
