Celebrity Apprentice Is Sucking Me In – Preview Clips Show Why

I sort of vowed not to watch Celebrity Apprentice after the last season (I'm a "sort of vow" kinda guy), because the fact that Joan Rivers won was not only incredibly irritating, it made me wonder if the fix was in. I'm sorry, I can't stand Joan Rivers, and somehow I could see a certain conversation with Donald and Joan when we were still in negotiations as far as appearing on the show.

"Oh, I can act insane, don't worry about that... but, then I get to win."

"You're Hired!"

Not that I'm opposed to a certain amount of crazy. That's about all there is to watching the show, but even I draw the line somewhere.

So, there I am, loosely committed to not being interested in the show, and when the announcement of the new celebrities came out, nothing changed all that much. Of course, then the real problem shows up... unlike you, I sort of have to watch it, despite the fact that I might shake my fist at the heavens screaming, "I sort of vowed!"

And then the show worked its particular brand of magic... which is to have celebrities who are the appropriate kind of crazy. Well, they aren't all crazy. Some of them are just odd. Then again, some of them are perfectly normal, but they can't win. That's just the game we're playing.

First up - Cyndi Lauper. What's great about Celebrity Apprentice is getting the mix, especially when you get some people together and discover how little it really takes to become famous... in the... let's say, being able to string coherent thoughts together department.

In this next clip, Sharon Osbourne spells out another reason the show gets hold of you. I'll let her do that talking, but something about the fact that these people can't manage enough sense not to care is absolutely fascinating.

Finally, well, this one is sort of season specific, or seems so, but the hilarious personalities are too watchable to miss.

Here's Bret -

Now, this season has its own special personality as well. You've got Rod, who can't stop throwing out his speechwriter's handiwork every chance he gets. There's Selita Ebanks, who many people know (and will now learn that she has a name), but is too calm to get very far. There's Bill Goldberg, who surprisingly is far and away the most sensible, rational person on the show.

We may not get a death-feud this season, but so far it looks like a good bit of fun, with the right mix.

How are you liking the show so far?

You really nailed it at: “Oh, I can act insane, don’t worry about that… but, then I get to win.” “You’re Hired!”. So far the show seems ok, my favourite Bill Goldberg of course. Hope he's gonna win, without needing to make a tantrum. Or more.
