Eat Pray Love Preview – Trailer And Stills

In addition to the pre-built popularity of the film Eat Pray Love that is based solely on book sales, it also has the instant box office of any film starring Julia Roberts. It isn't hard to figure out why so many popular books make their way to the big screen. Obviously, the risk is a very different thing when you can start production with a certain number of guaranteed sales. But, there are a few looming question marks when it comes to this one, and I for one am a little uneasy.

First off, not every book translates into much of a film, and the semi-spiritual journey of a woman who travels the world living in seclusion, with a good part of the story being what she's thinking is probably right up there on the list. Second, I'm not sure of Julia Roberts' ability to convince me that she is this woman.

At any rate, check out the new trailer and let me know what you think.

Is this going to work out as a film?

Liz Gilbert (Roberts) had everything a modern woman is supposed to dream of having - a husband, a house, a successful career - yet like so many others, she found herself lost, confused, and searching for what she really wanted in life. Newly divorced and at a crossroads, Gilbert steps out of her comfort zone, risking everything to change her life, embarking on a journey around the world that becomes a quest for self-discovery. In her travels, she discovers the true pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of true love in Bali. Based upon the bestselling memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert. *written by Sony Pictures

Eat Pray Love stars Julia Roberts, James Franco, Javier Bardem, Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins, and Viola Davis.
