When I first heard about the reworking of Clash of the Titans, I was more than a little skeptical. While that might not be surprising, it wasn't your run of the mill skepticism that might be my initial reaction at just any recreation. Not only is the 1981 original a kind of cult icon, but it's Harryhausen for crying out loud. An awful, brilliant, and awfully brilliant masterpiece of truly crazy cinema populated by some of the best actors of the age... and Harry Hamlin, it is simply a thing that should not be messed with.
Worse, all reports seemed to indicate that it was going to be rather a serious affair... and it probably wouldn't have any weird, robotic, clicking owls at all.
As glimpses of the production came out, it looked like there was some hope we might get a worthwhile film, and when trailers started being released, a lot of people were talking positively.
Now I've got a truly massive amount of video for you to peruse, and by the time you get a decent helping of this stuff, I think you're going to have a pretty good feel for things. I may have changed my position somewhat, and more importantly, it looks like we might be going for a rather interesting take on updating the thing.
Clash of the Titans stars: Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Gemma Arterton, Nicholas Hoult, Alexa Davalos, Danny Huston, Izabella Miko, Jason Flemyng, Polly Walker, Kaya Scodelario, Mads Mikkelsen, Nathalie Cox, Pete Postlethwaite, Tamer Hassan, Luke Evans, Natalia Vodianova, and many more.
