A television staple for nine years, The Waltons won 13 Emmy Awards during its run. Now, to add to your collection, you can own six feature-length films that came from the series in one DVD set.
While the show had its moments, and certainly kept viewers tuning in, the movies really stand out as quality productions with a serious eye toward delivering the best components of the show’s efforts. Each themed around an occasion or holiday, the family dynamic wins out, but things aren’t necessarily all smooth sailing.
Whatever else you might say, nothing like this will ever be on television again, and the chance to own the classic series specials on DVD is probably the only chance to see them at all.
The Waltons, which made its network television premiere on September 14, 1972 on CBS, follows one family’s journey as they run a lumber mill during the Great Depression in rural Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Created and narrated by author Earl Hamner, Jr., the program is a reflection of Hamner’s own upbringing during the same era, with his experiences re-told to the viewer through the eyes of aspiring writer John Boy Walton (originally portrayed by Richard Thomas).
Featured Films Include:
A Wedding on Walton’s Mountain – Set in the 1940’s after the Second World War, beautiful Erin Walton is set to marry, or will she have a change of heart when her ex-beau Ashley comes calling?
Mother’s Day on Walton’s Mountain – The Waltons are bursting with appreciation for the one who nurtured, instructed and loved them without measure: Mother.
A Day for Thanks on Walton’s Mountain – Life circumstances threaten to bring the Walton’s time honored Thanksgiving celebration to an end, but on the last Thursday of November, the heartfelt tradition lives on thanks to young Elizabeth.
A Walton Thanksgiving Reunion – In Fall 1963, a decade after the prior movie, the Waltons come together to rejoice in their accomplishments and mourn a national tragedy, the assassination of JFK.
A Walton Wedding – John Boy and Janet reject the high-society schemes of her meddling aunt-turned-wedding planner and opt for the homespun Blue Ridge Mountain warmth of A Walton Wedding.
A Walton Easter – A 1969 visit home has John-Boy wondering if it’s time to come home for keeps. The seven Walton siblings and their ever-growing broods reunite for Easter and their parents’ 40th anniversary.
The 3-Disc set doesn’t come with any special features, but it hardly needs them. The nostalgic trip is a perfect gift, and a solid set in its own right.

I love this show-Would love to win
I'm all about the Waltons. I was born in VA and just love this show. I would love to win. I could sit and quilt and watch the Waltons and laugh and cry right along with them. Thanks Debbie
