This was a great series -- a fresh take on the Robin Hood story. Sometimes it strains believability and fails to develop the story and the characters with any depth, but it's just so much fun! The good guys are a little rowdy and the bad guys are deliciously bad, and the sexy Guy of Gisborne's multilayered, conflicted character redeems the show from being just fluffy kids' stuff.

I'd love to be the one to win the dvd!

I originally watched the show expecting to find Robin (Jonas Armstrong) as the most compelling character, but was quickly seduced by the complexity of Guy (Richard Armitage) and the humor of the Sherriff (Keith Allen). I really enjoyed the added darkness of season 3, but found Kate (Joanne Frogatt) to be an annoyance - the character was just the "token girl" and added nothing to the company or the season's arc.

I have enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2 of Robin Hood via streaming Netflix. I would love to WIN the season 3 DVDs before they come via my DVD list - where it says "very long wait".

I love this show, and I would love to WIN a copy of the 3rd season! Richard Armitage has become one of my favorite actors, thanks to this show, which introduced me to the talented Mr. Armitage! I would love to add this season to my "Robin Hood" collection!!

Win!

I just started watching RH Season I and thoroughly enjoyed! Of course I have a numerous questions and frustrations with the storyline, but overall enjoy the characters. I am currently watching the DVD's through Netflix, and look forward to SII and III, but am already disappointed seeing that the show ends with SIII.

My one big question is...does anyone else have an issue with the fact that in SI, Episode 2, there were over a dozen of "Merrymen" but then by Episode 3 there was half as many?

Any season of Robin Hood would win my vote for an award for entertaining, fun, witty, and great TV. Though I'll own this regardless of whether I win or not, as I am a poor student, winning anything at all would be quiet nice.

I actually rather agree. But, whether things were occasionally fairly crazy, at least they were different.

I'm hearing both sides in the comments (which is great), but season 3 was a lot more watchable for me.

Thanks for the comment.

I loved Season 3 and I agree, Season 2 was just not as good. I think by the time the writers got to Season 2 they realized they had a problem. The fans loved Guy of Gisborne and by the end of Season 1 Marian had left Guy and oops - there goes our story. The attempts to work her back into Guy's good graces while keeping a relationship with Robin just didn't ring true. She genuinely cared for Guy in Season 1 and regardless of how often she said it in Season 2 - she obviously was stringing him along for information. Season 3 was better. There was conflict within and without for Robin and Guy. Richard Armitage really has a way of presenting that conflict - you see his torment and pain yet you see the pride and confidence he displayed before the Sheriff, the Prince and his sister. The villian stole this show from the legend, no doubt and entirely due to the great acting of Armitage. Their discovery of kinship and subsequent partnering for the good of the cause was well done albeit a bit to sudden. More time should have been spent developing that storyline but Britsh shows have such short seasons! I would love to WIN Season 3 on DVD since the rest of my family won't let me take up DVR space saving all the episodes!

For me, only Richard Armitage as Guy of Gisborne, and Toby Stephens as Prince John made season 3 watchable. While I appreciated the darker nature of the writing and plots, the writers just didn't go far enough. They couldn't seem to decide if they were writing for children (hang gliding? decrepit circus-reject lions as weapons?), or writing for thinking adults. Initially, I was excited to know they were finally going to write Tuck into the program, but all we got from him was boring speechifying ad nauseum. And then we had the addition of the token female gang member, Kate, who was simply awful and impossible to watch. Season 3 was about wasted opportunities, with a few notable exceptions. Gisborne's scenes were dark, tormented, and fascinating to watch, as were Prince John's "over the top by any other actor but pulled off by Toby Stephens" moments. Perhaps when the Robin Hood producers decided to rework this show, they should have run with its strength and renamed it the "Guy of Gisborne" show. There was a character whose journey could have been even more fascinating given the opportunity and much stronger scripts.

Oh, and...WIN! :-)
