I have to admit, I'm rather a fan of The Celebrity Apprentice. The first season of the "regular" Apprentice was decent enough, but after that it lost a little something. It had its moments, but overall I just didn't care which Type-A doofus got to work for Donald Trump. Am I really invested somehow?
The celebrity version kicked off well for me. If a bunch of people are going to make fools of themselves on national television for the sake of some meaningless competition, why not do it in a way that gives a bunch of money to charity? If said fools are celebrities from various letter "lists," and we get a shot at seeing that even the rich and semi-famous are mostly idiots too, how is that not a win-win?
But then... Joan Rivers was on. Now, the whole theory of the show is bad enough (or good enough), and you know people are largely tuning in to see who can act ridiculous, but putting Joan Rivers in any context or category is simply to go too far. Stupid is one thing, and making sure stupid people are on television ought to be a charity you can donate to in itself if you ask me, but at a certain point you're making fun of the handicapped, and I'm not a fan. When you're getting people in front of the television to watch stupid people, I'm your man, but when the water cooler talk revolves around "crazy" and we mean "needs to be blue-papered," that's not entertainment.
But, I gress.
The latest victims were announced today, and it looks like a white-hot mess waiting to happen.

All I'm going to say is that over $3.5 million has been raised for charities during the run of the show, not to mention the great exposure some of these charities get just by being mentioned. Actually, I'm also going to say Why The Face?
Tune in March 14th at 9pm Eastern.
