The Hangover DVD Review Plus Release Party Images And Special Feature Clips

Remember that night?

Now nominated for a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice AwardThe Hangover is available on DVD with Theatrical and Unrated versions of the film.

1000089870DVDLEFOA bachelor party trip to Vegas goes horribly wrong, and the first clue is waking up with a tiger in your hotel room. Following closely on the heels of that discovery we find a baby, can’t find the bachelor, and have no memory of what happened the night before. Trying to find out what happened (and the bachelor) only leads to more and more unbelievable events. You’d think you would remember losing a tooth, getting married, or stealing a police car, but you’d be wrong.

From director Todd Phillips (Old School), the film is a wild trip into hilarious events, with laughs thrown at you from so many directions at once that it’s hard to keep track. When the outrageous (and timing implausible) events of the night don’t add their own amusement, the characters themselves put in their own brand of wackiness to keep things moving. Whether it’s Stu’s (Ed Helms) ridiculous relationship with an uber-shrew, or Alan’s (Zach Galifianakis) utter lack of brains (Did Caesar stay here?), something is coming at you every second.

Re-live the bachelor party gone wrong when The Hangover: Extended Cut arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on December 15th from Warner Home Video.  From director Todd Phillips (Old School, Starsky & Hutch) comes a laugh-out-loud comedy about three groomsmen and their journey to retrace their steps from a downright crazy Vegas night in hopes of finding the missing groom. Available as a 2-disc Special Edition and on Blu-ray, The Hangover: Extended Cut contains seven additional minutes of hilarious content not seen in theaters!  The original theatrical version will also be available as a single disc.

Two days before his wedding, Doug drives to Las Vegas with his best buddies for a blow-out bachelor party they vow they’ll never forget…only they did.  When the three groomsmen wake up the next morning with pounding headaches, their hotel suite is trashed and the groom is lost. With little time to spare, the trio attempts to retrace their bad decisions from the night before to figure out where things went wrong in the hopes of finding Doug and getting him back to L.A. in time for his wedding.

The Hangover stars Bradley Cooper (Wedding Crashers, He’s Just Not That Into You, Yes Man), Ed Helms (TV’s The Office), Zach Galifianakis (What Happens in Vegas), Justin Bartha (National Treasure: Book of Secrets) and Jeffrey Tambor (TV’s Arrested Development).

The Two-Disc Special Edition comes with several special features, and of course the Unrated version, but the main attraction for fans is going to be the commentary track with Todd Phillips, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms. It’s difficult to even begin to describe this commentary track, much like it would be difficult to begin describing that fateful night, but if you enjoyed the movie at all, you’re going to love it. The film’s creation obviously made for some bizarre moments, and these guys are hilarious.

There are a few less than spectacular bonuses as well, like the 1-minute performance by The Dan Band!, and the Action Mash-Up, but there are also a few clever goodies. The Madness of Ken Jeong is a character-specific group of deleted scenes/outtakes that basically show a few ways that scenes almost went very different. Apparently, one assumes by way of this feature, much of Jeong’s performance was ad-lib nuttiness.

You also get a short clip of The Three Best Friends Song which is rather funny, and a slew of extra pictures from the missing camera, but the only other really interesting feature on this version is the Map of Destruction. An interactive map shows the locations of interest, and selecting them will give you clips, interview footage, and other bits of goodness.

OK … my son purchased the two DVD and we watched it after our Christmas dinner. I am still laughing … this is a very funny movie, but defiantly for adults. I often feel many writers get caught up in fowl language and this one had more than what I would care to see in the movie, but I would still give this movie a thumbs up.
