MGM_85th_250_blackBreaking exciting new ground, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios (MGM) and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution are offering films originally produced by the iconic Hollywood studio MGM to consumers across multiple digital platforms including gaming (Xbox Live, PlayStation Marketplace), Internet (Amazon Video on Demand, iTunes) and cable (Videovideovideo on Demand).

Titles range from Hollywood classics to modern blockbusters including “The Wizard of Oz,” “Ben Hur,” “An American in ParisAn American in Paris reviewsAn American in Paris reviews,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “North by Northwest,” “2001: A Space Odyssey2001: A Space Odyssey reviews2001: A Space Odyssey reviews,” “Hannibal,” “Legally Blonde,” “Get Shorty,” “Moonstruck,” “A Fish Called Wanda” and the beloved “Gone with the Wind,” which celebrates its 70th anniversary that same day.

This special VOD and Digital offering temporarily reunites the legendary library, bringing together the best of the Warner-owned MGM titles and the best of the MGM-owned MGM titles.

“Today we catapult our historic film library into a new era,” said Joe Patrick, EVP, North American Television Distribution, MGM. “For the first-time ever, movie lovers everywhere will have the opportunity to watch their favorite films when, where and how they want them. This collection represents some of the best movies ever made and we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to the public.”

The MGM 85th Anniversary films collection will launch across multiple digital platforms, including broadband, cable and satellite.  The promotion also celebrates MGM’s 85th year of filmmaking.  The studio first hit the big screen with its legendary roaring lion in April 1924 under the guidance of iconic movie mogul, Louis B. Mayer.  With Mayer and the legendary Irving Thalberg leading the charge, MGM became the pinnacle of movie-making success over the years, earning 205 Academy Awards®, including 15 Best Pictures and more to come.
