If you haven’t managed to catch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia yet, you’re missing one of the funniest, most caustic shows that’s ever been on the small screen. The wildly unpredictable crew of Paddy’s come together for a holiday event like nothing you’ve seen before in A Very Sunny Christmas.
While the show is the blackest of comedies at the best of times, things get turned up (or down) a notch when Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Dee, and Frank try to find some Christmas spirit. Charlie and Mac are filled with Christmas cheer as we enter the show on Christmas Eve, but a tape of a past Christmas, and the story of the tradition of the Christmas morning Santas ends up shattering their worlds. Dennis and Dee try to get all Christmas Carol on Frank to get back at him for systematically killing Christmas all their lives, but it doesn’t quite go according to plan.
Everyone (well, not Frank) is determined to find a way to get the holiday spirit back, no matter what their past may throw at them, and their best efforts explode in ways you can only find in Sunny Philadelphia. If it’s not a mall Santa smackdown, it’s a naked guy bursting out of a couch in the middle of an office Christmas party.
This is a hilarious and clever, if twisted, holiday special that you’re going to want to own so that you can start your own holiday tradition, and don’t have to resort to whatever happens to become one… like the unfortunate cast here. Don’t let it happen to you!
Special features on the DVD include three deleted scenes which are flashbacks to Charlie and Mac’s youth, a 7-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, and a Sunny Sing-A-Long. Though not exactly loaded with extras, the bonuses are fun and wonderfully Sunny-esque.
Own it on DVD and Blu-Ray today!
Also, stay tuned, because this will be added to the Massive Holiday Giveaway coming soon. We have to throw in a few things for the adults.
Cast members Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson, Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton and Charlie Day plus additional guest stars from the hit show gathered at L.A.’s Guys and Dolls Lounge to celebrate the outrageous never-before-seen Christmas special. Mac, Charlie, Dennis, Sweet Dee and Frank are ringing in the holidays and celebrating the release of “A Very Sunny Christmas,” available exclusively on Blu-ray and DVD November 17 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. This instant holiday classic contains all the wildly inappropriate behavior as the “Sunny” crew rediscovers the joy of Christmas and embarks on a holiday adventure filled with stolen toys, childhood videos, naked elves and a run in with Santa Claus!
