Scrubs Season Eight Blu-Ray – Win Yours Here

We all know that shows that make it to eighth and ninth seasons are pretty rare, but shows that make it that far and still push themselves are rarer still. Scrubs is such a show, and while it may not be for everyone, you've got to appreciate a show that doesn't rest on its laurels and churn out "easy" episodes when it's this far along.

scrubscoverThat may sound rather strange to serious fans. What with the network shift, addition of hordes of new characters, shuffling in and out of the main stars week by week, and who knows what else, many people wondered if season 8 could possibly deliver as true Scrubs A-game. There's something to that theory, and some of the new intern feature of the season is not the best work the series has produced, but the overall it remains solid, inventive, and filled with laughs.

The Blu-Ray release does not seem on first glance to be filled with special features, but it has a lot going for it. First and foremost, there are commentaries on nearly every episode. Series creator Bill Lawrence is on all of them, and he is joined by various members of the cast depending on the episode. These are real treats in the realm of commentary, and are often as funny as the show itself.

There is also a documentary-style featurette, My Bahamas Vacation, which is a somewhat standard behind-the-scenes effort showcasing the Bahamas episode, although I suppose it is only standard in theory given this crew. You also get deleted scenes, a blooper reel, and the webisodes of the interns. A final interesting bonus are the alternate lines, which show certain segments of the show filmed with different deliveries of key lines. It's entertaining, but also quite interesting to see a small snippet of the process behind figuring out how things seem to play best.
