I talked my daughter into going with me to this one instead of New Moon (we both like martial arts movies). There were some well choreographed scenes, but after the third or fourth CGI-dismemberment-with-needless-fountains-of-blood, which I would have swallowed in a solid movie, I was wishing we'd gone to New Moon.

Sadly, this is a more slickly produced movie of the slash-em-up Hong Kong no plot or characters or whatever variety with the same old ninja cliches.

Pity.

I love martial arts movies, despite their general lack of acting and plot. What can I tell you. I've got a large number of Jackie Chan's movies (More Hong Kong than Hollywood). I loved “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Hero”, “House of Flying Daggers”, and “Iron Monkey.”

Admittedly, not everyone sees the connection to me.

Yes, but I can't say when exactly. Unfortunately (or fortunately), with the Critic's Choice Awards coming up, I have every movie of the year staring up at me. I'm hoping for quite soon, but it's hard to say when I'm going to do anything at this point.

Although, I have to say, you are not the first person who would have jumped to mind when I thought, “You know who is really going to be interested in Ninja Assassin…”
