Fans of Gordon Ramsay are certainly familiar with Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, but The F Word hasn’t gotten a lot of attention in the U.S., despite airing on BBCAmerica. While I have a special fondness for Kitchen Nightmares, The F Word is probably the next most entertaining of Ramsay’s shows. It’s a very different sort of ballgame in the F Word restaurant, and there’s a lot less shouting, and a lot more culinary fun.
The show is a real smorgasbord of entertainment avenues, with celebrity guests facing off with Gordon in recipe challenges, hopeful chefs trying to prove their worth in Gordon’s kitchen, food knowledge snippets, and much more. Competing chefs square off in Gordon’s The F Word restaurant, where diners only pay if they like their food, and celebrities from just about anywhere put their skills to the ultimate test.
Highlights from series three include -
- Dawn French shows up to become one of the 50 guests who will or won’t pay for their food.
- Ronnie Corbett and Top Gear‘s James May take on Ramsay in the recipe challenge.
- Gordon takes a shot at deer hunting, but things don’t quite go as planned.
- Ricky Gervais comes to dinner and samples some of the strangest food he’s ever seen.
- Gordon’s sheep… seriously, are the cause of drama in several episodes throughout the series, as Gordon has to try and keep them fed.
The 3-disc DVD set also includes 6 printable recipes featured during the series.
While most people are very accustomed to Ramsay’s screaming side, The F Word is (usually) much more focused on the calmer, more pleasant side of the chef. It’s a unique and entertaining combination, and if you aren’t familiar with it, you should really check it out on BBCAmerica the first chance you get.
Check out a few clips from this series below, and be sure to leave a comment including the word, “Win,” for your chance at a copy of the DVD. U.S. and Canada only. Winner will be chosen October 25th.
