Screentime With @mickipedia – Social Media Sensation, Derby Doll, & General Awesomeness

If you know me via Twitter to any degree, you probably know that I frequently follow people for no other reason than that @mickipedia @ed them.  Just play along if you don't get that.  Micki, @mickipedia, or Mickispeedia (ok, or Micki Krimmel), depending on where you are and what she has on her feet, has been one of my favorite Twitter personalities from the day I signed up.

mickipediaIt's actually a bit tricky to say why, but something about the combination of social media celebrity, activist, and roller derby vixen comes together to create an interesting person to follow.  Well, and she's really pretty funny.  Come to think of it, it might just be the roller derby thing.

Barring coverage of the L.A. Derby Dolls, there weren't a lot of options for me to pull Micki onto my site, except to call it Twitter-related, which I'm calling Screen-related, and invite her to Screentime!  So that's what I did.  She's got fans, and they want to get to know her.  Stay tuned below for another shirt giveaway from our frequent sponsor www.muzeclothing.com

Here We Go!

1.  What are your three favorite television shows ever, and why are they the greatest?

I don't watch much television but I've been consistently hooked on LOST since its inception. I don't have cable but I always make sure to catch up online. LOST does a great job revealing just enough information to keep you hooked to find out more every week. But really, it's the characters that make that show so great. The casting, the acting, there's just no way not to connect to the characters of that show.

Still, the best TV show ever made was Wonder Showzen for MTV2.

2.  Give me two movies that you recently loved, but it was a surprise that you liked them so much.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly has got to be my favorite movie right now. I know it's not new and I've seen lots of movies since then but I just loved it.

I went to film school and I'm kind of a dick when it comes to movies. I hate almost everything. I feel like most Hollywood movies disrespect the art of filmmaking and the audiences by not challenging people and not having a unique point of view. I think most "art" films are pompous or predictable and "indie" no longer means anything. It just describes another genre of film - meaning everything in that genre is like everything else in that genre. I love movies. I REALLY love movies. But it doesn't happen often. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is a beautiful, surprising, challenging and well-executed film.

3.  As you are rather a Twitter personality, who are the coolest people on Twitter that are not getting the attention they deserve?

My bestie, @MissRFTC is the funniest person on Twitter in my opinion. She had a little moment of internet fame when she tweeted about being at the gyno during an earthquake. Now she's blogging for LA metblogs and she's getting more involved in the new media scene. She's freaking hilarious and deserves 10x as many followers as me.

4.  What screen-related item is at the top of your 'must get next' list?  DVD, game, computer, anything.

I really want the kindle.

5.  What genre of television show do you wish would just disappear altogether?

Celebrity news. This is the bane of our culture.

6.  What are the last five things you did that involved screens, starting now?

Responded to this interview via email

Twittered

Added my sister on Facebook

Updated my to do list - http://dopointoh.com/ has changed my life

Watched my friend Kdon on project runway Canada on youtube on the wii.

7.  What were the three most awesome things at SXSW?

RVIP Lounge

Staying for music (it was my first time! I've done interactive 5 or 6 times.)

Connecting with LA peeps in Austin. We never see each other in LA!
