It's basically gotten to the point that all competition television is just a bit of a laugh. Whether it's dancing, modeling, singing, or anything goes... no one seems to care that much anymore. American Idol is almost the neverending joke this season, with the laughs pointed in a variety of directions... not least at the doped-up judge... you go ahead and pick which one that is.
Tyra Banks is her own joke, and her show (again, take your pick) is laughable at best. The rest of the shows we see are just trying to nudge their way through to some mediocre showing in the ratings, and result in very little entertainment.
America's Got Talent didn't really thrill me either, and frankly, an anything goes competition that eventually spits out a ventriloquist has gone wrong somewhere.
But, Britain does have talent.
Susan, at the perky age of 47, showed up and threw everyone for a loop. You can say what you want about these shows, and I'll go along with just about any of it to be honest, but I've seen this woman sing, and it's worth all the crap it takes to get there. You can have all the donkey nonsense you like, and have every idiot on Earth show up to American Idol, and anything else you want. If it paves the way for people like this to get on television, who I damn sure would never have seen otherwise, I'll pay the price a hundred times over.
Now, I've got the video below, but I don't know if it will last. The YouTube version has embedding turned off, and I stumbled into this version. The video can be seen at Britain's Got Talent's official site here. God forbid a video of your show go viral and get some exposure. Whatever. I suppose this is some sort of bootleg, which is just weird.
By the way, when you start watching, don't think this is a wind-up. She's amazing.
You may not agree with me. You may think it isn't worth it. You may not even think this woman can sing, so who cares. If so, keep your comments to yourself... other people are trying to listen.
