The Next Generation Of Browsing… And Shopping. CoolIris.

I'm actually jumping the gun on this one, because I'm hoping to hear back from the people at CoolIris (formerly PicLens) on possibilities for the future and more general info, but I can't wait.  I'm too in love with this thing.

CoolIris is a browser plugin for Firefox that changes the entire theory of internet travel... making it something picture based, and it is incredible.  Once you install this baby into your browser, you click an icon in the corner of Firefox, and away you go... straight to the wall.  Browse news stories, shop at sites like Amazon and Macy's, by just dragging your mouse in order to scroll along the wall.  Zoom in, zoom out, and when something catches your eye, you can jump right to that page.  A small bar will come up at the bottom right of your screen so that you can go back to CoolIris mode at any time.

Go to their website, and you can also create your own wall for your website's pictures through a variety of means.  Now, this is still young, so you can't go to everything on the web, but you can go a lot of places that are pretty interesting, and just whizzing through places like YouTube makes it worth it while we wait and hope for future expansion.

You really have to see this in action to get a good idea of what it can do for you, so check out this video.  It actually looks a little different than this now, but this was the video I could find that would play for me, and it gives you a good look around without taking forever.

I encourage you to take this for a spin yourself, and let them know if you like it so that they will continue expanding the possibilities.

I need to thank the gang over at popSiren for alerting me to this one.  Unfortunately, I watch their show on Tivo, and their episode listings don't seem to mention it, so I can't send you to the right show.  It's probably one of the most recent three shows.  Sorry guys.
